What calms the mind
Grateful, again. To be here.
Writing a blog post has been on my to-do list over the last six months many times but it wasn’t on today’s. But as I wanted to reap the benefits of creative writing, I am writing one right now. Here are the things that have stuck true to me for the past 10 years:
Running helps me organise my thoughts.
Cleaning and meditation are two things that calm my mind.
Ticking off my to-do list is what clears my mind.
Quite a lot has happened over the past 6 months.
When I wrote my last blog post, I was just starting a Masters degree in the Translation and Interpreting field.
Unsure about everything. Everything was uncertain. I didn’t know who to talk to for my ambitions in the T&I field.
6 months later, I have found some level of footing in the T&I field. Getting here was definitely challenging with life’s curveballs and overcoming my fears. I’ve had to make many changes to my lifestyle over the last 6 months as well.
My grandma and I, a picture I love, from earlier this year
From a cafe on Jeju Island.
Over the past 6 months, I’ve:
Been fortunate to have a great Interpreting teacher (Korean<->English)
I found a group of professional Interpreters and Translators through my studies, made acquaintances and friends
Had more interpreting experience than I thought I would have
Given myself peace from the thoughts of people that were holding me back
Debuted as an MC at the 2024 Melbourne Korea Festival
Cut ties from toxic people who I once trusted
Travelled to Korea and Japan - where I spent a great time with friends and family I truly appreciate
Made future career plans to work towards that make me excited about what every day has to offer
I’ve been well.
